PERSON. PLACE.
These elements have been the foundation of my work for over 35 years. A person is a complex, multifaceted being. Place extends beyond physical geography, embracing the emotional, the spiritual, and the psychological. Places mold us, and in turn, we shape those spaces with our unique presence.
I began my artistic journey by exploring the internal spaces ,seeking to understand my place in the world—both as a woman and as a human being. This search for self , led to a much deeper investigation into my origins: my heritage, my past, and the intricate web of connections to people and places that have shaped me. A transformative decade spent in Greece became a key chapter in this journey, offering rich personal and visual opportunities to reconnect with my ancestry, my culture, and the evolving senseof who I am.
In time, my journey led me back to Tarpon Springs—the community I grew up in, the familiar faces I once knew, and the landscapes that had always surrounded me. I have dedicated myself to capturing the essence of this place—its people, its history, stories and the richness of its culture and and faith.
My work is grounded in what is real and intimate. It is not about complexity or abstraction but about preserving the essence of lived experience—about exploring the quiet connections between people and the places that carry our stories. Through looking andlistening, I’ve come to understand the ever-changing nature of belonging. My art is an ongoing conversation with the world around me: a continual exploration of the places I’ve lived, the histories I carry, and the person I am and will be.
